MetaMask Portfolio (portfolio.metamask.io) is MetaMask’s dedicated dashboard for tracking, managing, and acting on your crypto holdings across multiple wallets and networks. It goes well beyond the basic wallet extension, offering a unified view of your entire on-chain portfolio alongside integrated buy, sell, swap, and bridge functionality. This guide covers everything you need to know about using MetaMask Portfolio effectively in 2026.
What Is MetaMask Portfolio?
MetaMask Portfolio is a web application separate from the MetaMask browser extension. You access it at portfolio.metamask.io rather than through the extension popup. It’s designed to solve a core limitation of the wallet extension: you can only view one account at a time. MetaMask Portfolio lets you connect and track multiple wallets simultaneously.
Key capabilities:
- Track token balances across dozens of networks from one dashboard
- Monitor NFT collections
- View DeFi positions (lending, liquidity, staking)
- Buy, sell, and swap directly within the dashboard
- Bridge assets between networks
- Add watch-only wallets (no connection required, just an address)
MetaMask Portfolio is free to use. It generates revenue through the swap and bridge features, which include a small fee built into the exchange rate.
Connecting Your Wallets
Connecting MetaMask
- MetaMask will prompt you to approve the connection — click “Connect”
- Your wallet address loads automatically with all connected networks
Adding Multiple Wallets
MetaMask Portfolio can track multiple wallets simultaneously. After connecting your first wallet:
- Click your wallet address or the account icon in the top right
- Options include:
– Connect another MetaMask account
– Connect a hardware wallet (Ledger/Trezor via MetaMask)
– Add a watch-only address (paste any Ethereum address)
– Connect via WalletConnect (for non-MetaMask wallets)
Watch-Only Addresses
Watch-only mode lets you track any wallet without connecting it or exposing any keys. This is useful for:
- Monitoring a hardware wallet balance without plugging it in
- Tracking a team or treasury wallet
- Keeping tabs on a whale address for research
To add a watch-only address, click “Add Account” → “Watch an account” and paste the address. You’ll see the full portfolio view but cannot sign transactions.
Supported Networks
MetaMask Portfolio supports all major EVM-compatible networks. As of 2026, the supported network list includes:
| Network | Token Tracking | DeFi Positions | NFTs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum Mainnet | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Arbitrum One | Yes | Yes | Limited |
| Optimism | Yes | Yes | Limited |
| Base | Yes | Yes | Limited |
| Polygon PoS | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Avalanche C-Chain | Yes | Yes | No |
| BNB Smart Chain | Yes | Yes | No |
| Linea | Yes | Yes | No |
| zkSync Era | Yes | Limited | No |
| Fantom | Yes | No | No |
The supported network list expands regularly. MetaMask Portfolio defaults to showing all networks aggregated, but you can filter to a specific network using the network selector at the top of the dashboard.
Tracking Token Balances
The main dashboard shows your total portfolio value in USD (or your selected fiat currency) and a breakdown by token. Each token shows:
- Current balance
- Current price
- 24-hour price change
- USD value
Tokens are sorted by value by default. You can search for a specific token, hide zero-balance tokens, and toggle between portfolio view (all wallets combined) and per-wallet view.
Custom Token Display
If a token isn’t showing in your portfolio, it may need to be manually added. Click the gear/settings icon on the token list and enter the contract address. MetaMask Portfolio will then fetch the balance and display it.
Portfolio Charts
A chart at the top of the dashboard shows your total portfolio value over time (1D, 1W, 1M, 3M, 1Y). This is pulled from on-chain data and current price feeds — it’s not derived from your transaction history, so it reflects actual on-chain balances accurately.
Tracking NFTs
MetaMask Portfolio has a dedicated NFT tab that loads all NFTs across your connected wallets and supported networks. For each NFT, you can see:
- The NFT image
- Collection name and token ID
- Floor price (where available)
- The network it’s on
NFT tracking is currently strongest on Ethereum mainnet. L2 and Polygon NFTs are partially supported but may not display all collections.
You can send NFTs directly from the Portfolio dashboard without opening the extension. Click any NFT, then click “Send” and enter the recipient address.
Hiding NFTs
Spam NFTs and airdrops clutter your gallery. Click the three-dot menu on any NFT and select “Hide” to remove it from view. Hidden NFTs don’t appear in your portfolio but can be unhidden in settings if needed.
Tracking DeFi Positions
One of MetaMask Portfolio’s most useful features is DeFi position tracking. It automatically detects balances you have in DeFi protocols and displays them in the “DeFi” tab.
Supported Protocols (2026)
What DeFi Tracking Shows
For each protocol position, you’ll see:
- Type of position (supplied, borrowed, LP)
- Asset(s) involved
- Current value
- For lending: health factor and liquidation price
- For LP: your share of the pool and current composition
This is read-only — you can view positions but need to interact with the individual dApps to make changes.
Buy, Sell, and Swap in MetaMask Portfolio
MetaMask Portfolio has an integrated exchange that aggregates rates from multiple providers.
Buying Crypto
- Select your country and payment method
- Choose the token and network
- Enter the amount
- Select from available providers (MoonPay, Transak, Sardine, etc.)
- Complete the purchase on the provider’s site
Available payment methods vary by country but typically include credit/debit card, bank transfer, and Apple Pay / Google Pay.
Swapping Tokens
- Select the network
- Choose “from” token and “to” token
- Enter amount
- Review the rate and MetaMask’s fee disclosure
- Approve and swap
MetaMask Portfolio’s swap aggregates from DEX aggregators to find competitive rates. The interface shows you the breakdown including expected output, price impact, and the 0.875% MetaMask service fee.
Selling Crypto
Cash-out options connect you to offramp providers where you can sell crypto to a bank account or card. The availability depends on your country.
Bridging Within MetaMask Portfolio
The bridge feature lets you move assets between networks without leaving the dashboard.
- Select the source network and token
- Select the destination network
- Enter the amount
- Review routes (MetaMask aggregates bridge providers including Li.Fi, Socket, and others)
- Approve and bridge
Bridge transactions typically take 5–30 minutes depending on the source network and bridge provider. The dashboard shows pending bridge transactions and their status.
MetaMask Portfolio vs. Zapper vs. DeBank
| Feature | MetaMask Portfolio | Zapper | DeBank |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-wallet tracking | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Watch-only addresses | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| DeFi positions | Good | Excellent | Excellent |
| NFT tracking | Basic | Good | Good |
| Buy/sell integration | Yes | Limited | No |

Best for: MetaMask Portfolio is the natural choice if you already use MetaMask and want a connected dashboard. Zapper and DeBank are generally stronger for tracking complex DeFi positions across many protocols, and DeBank in particular has excellent portfolio analytics and a social layer showing whale activity.
Tips for Getting the Most from MetaMask Portfolio
Set a primary currency. In settings, you can change the display currency from USD to EUR, GBP, or others. Useful if you’re not US-based.
Use portfolio snapshots. MetaMask Portfolio doesn’t have built-in portfolio tracking history by wallet — Zapper and DeBank are better here — but the chart does show aggregate value over time.
Add all your wallets. Many users have assets scattered across multiple addresses. Adding them all to Portfolio gives you one accurate total.
Monitor DeFi health factors. If you have Aave or Compound positions, check your health factor in the DeFi tab regularly, especially during volatile markets. A health factor below 1.0 means liquidation.
Use Portfolio for bridge research. Even if you end up bridging via a dedicated app, MetaMask Portfolio’s bridge aggregator is a useful tool to quickly compare bridge fees and times.
FAQ
Is MetaMask Portfolio a separate app from MetaMask?
Yes. MetaMask Portfolio is a separate web application at portfolio.metamask.io. You need the MetaMask extension installed to connect your wallet, but Portfolio itself is a distinct product with different features from the basic extension.
Does MetaMask Portfolio store my private keys?
No. MetaMask Portfolio is a read-and-act interface. Your keys stay in the MetaMask extension (or your hardware wallet). Portfolio reads your on-chain data via your public address and initiates transactions for you to sign — it never has access to your private keys.
Can I use MetaMask Portfolio with Ledger or Trezor?
Yes. Connect your hardware wallet through MetaMask first, then connect that account to MetaMask Portfolio. For transactions through Portfolio, you’ll be prompted to confirm on your hardware device as normal.
Why isn’t my DeFi position showing up?
Some protocols and newer vaults aren’t yet supported. MetaMask Portfolio continuously adds protocols, but coverage of newer or smaller DeFi projects may lag. For comprehensive DeFi tracking, DeBank or Zapper often have better coverage.
How accurate is the portfolio value shown?
The dollar value is calculated using live price feeds. For tokens with low liquidity or no major exchange listing, the price may be inaccurate or show as $0. DeFi position values are calculated based on the current state of the underlying pools.
Can I track non-EVM wallets like Bitcoin or Solana addresses?
No. MetaMask Portfolio only supports EVM-compatible networks. For tracking Bitcoin, Solana, or other non-EVM assets alongside EVM wallets, use a multi-chain portfolio tracker like Zerion or CoinStats.
Does MetaMask Portfolio charge fees for swaps and bridges?
Yes. MetaMask charges a 0.875% fee on swaps executed through MetaMask Portfolio. Bridge fees vary by provider and are disclosed before confirmation. Viewing your portfolio and tracking balances is always free.
